An alkaline battery is a long-lasting, non-rechargeable primary battery based on a chemical reaction between zinc (anode) and manganese dioxide (cathode) . It offers a higher energy density and longer running time than zinc-carbon batteries.
Typical nominal voltages are 1.5V for AA, AAA, C and D and 9V for block batteries. They are suitable for devices with medium to high energy requirements , such as remote controls, toys, flashlights and clocks.
Thanks to their low self-discharge, alkaline batteries have a long shelf life. They are mercury-free and more environmentally friendly than older battery types, but should be disposed of properly. 🔋♻️
