Mylaps RC4 HYBRID transponder
AMB RC4 transponder from "My Laps Sports Timing" - the absolute standard in the field of timing at RC car events!
At racing events, a transponder is now required of the driver as personal property.
For beginners, many organizers also offer rental transponders so that they don't have to make this investment at first.
The personal transponders from AMB are permanently installed in your car and actively supplied with power via the receiver. Each transponder has a unique number. This number is transferred to the timing computer when you pass over the time loop and your lap times are measured to the nearest 1/1000th of a second.
What is the difference between the RC4 and the RC4-Hybrid transponder?
The RC4 hybrid transponder also sends out the old predecessor RC3 signal in addition to the RC4 signal.
This means that the hybrid transponders can be used both on race tracks that use the current RC4 decoder technology and on race tracks that still use the old RC3 decoder technology.
Currently (as of summer 2017) all major race tracks have already converted their systems to RC4. RC3 has been significantly out of date for years. However, there are still organizers who still use an RC3 decoder - especially small race tracks that do not host many races.
NO time can be taken there with a pure RC4 transponder.
If you are only riding locally on a route, simply clarify this with the club or the timekeeper. If RC4 is supported here, you can save money and choose the RC4 transponder.
If you only go to large (sometimes international) races, you can choose the cheaper RC4 relatively safely.
If you travel a lot on various small routes, the RC4 Hybrid Transponder should be your first choice.
You can distinguish between RC4 and RC4-Hybrid transponders at first glance:
- RC4: 3-connection cable, black, red, white
- RC4-Hybrid: 2 connection cables, black, red
