The new A800R is unique in that the rammer is attached directly to the bulkheads and relies on this mounting point to provide rigidity to the bumper assembly as the lower bumper is only attached with one bolt. Bulkhead flexibility is a critical tuning tool these days. More bulkhead flexibility allows more flexibility on the tag axle (which emulates a C-Hub) while a rigid connection eliminates that flexibility. Therefore, we developed two types of bumpers for the new A800R: Flex and Stiff.
FLEX: The Bulkhead Flex improves overall steering in most conditions and is recommended for low traction carpet and all asphalt tracks. The Flex version has the bulkheads attached with pivot bolts, allowing the bulkheads to pivot on the bumper without becoming stuck. The shape of the bumper also favors flexibility of the bulkheads, while also having a "springy" design to handle frontal impacts.
STIFF: Stiff bulkheads are better suited to very high traction conditions where you don't want the front to bite as hard, making the car more predictable and stable. This version is suited to very high traction asphalt and high traction carpet, such as US Black Carpet. The stiff version attaches with normal bolts and has a stronger construction with a brace between the two bulkheads to prevent bending and deformation.
Another great feature of these bumpers is the ability to fit our hood stiffener! These are sold separately! Perfect for those lightweight bodies, our hood stiffener makes contact with the body, reducing body deflection and improving the downforce generated by the hood and windscreen directly onto the car. This part bolts directly to the bumper and can be used with both foam and 3D printed bumpers. The bolt on the top of the assembly can then be adjusted to perfectly match the height to the body. They weigh just 1.5g, making them the lightest hood stiffener on the market!
Made from 3mm 3K Carbon Fiber with our signature GeoCarbon styling! The set also includes 2x steel screws for attaching the bumper (spare parts are available separately, part number: RCM-TMS)
